Star Wars Imperial Assault: Return to Hoth Part 1

We've taken to not playing Imperial Assault without painted miniatures as it just adds so much and looks so much cooler. I've made my wife wait almost 3 months now to play the Return to Hoth expansion while I wrapped up some other projects and get around to getting all the miniatures painted.

We'll get things started with some Snowtroopers and HK assassin droids.

Star Wars Imperial Assault: Royal Guard Champion

Continuing with another board game miniature, speed painted. Been picking up several Imperial Assault minis over the past couple months which are perfect for this. My wife and I really love this game and it really does add a lot to the fun when all the miniatures are painted. Royal Guard Champ is a great model for the core game campaign.

Star Wars Imperial Assault: Han Solo & Chewbacca

Again moving in my sort of usual rhythm for painting. After a big project that takes months I like to take a break and just do some fun speed painting. Board game minis are perfect for this and Star Wars miniatures are really a lot of fun to paint. Painted up these two in about three hours.

Shadows of Brimstone: Frontier Town Bandits

The miniatures for Shadows of Brimstone are pretty lackluster in regards to quality but I love playing with painted miniatures so these needed to get done. This was a super quick speed paint job that was finished from bare plastic to painted and based in under 3 hours. Shout out to my wife (my longtime brimstone posse member) for the assist with some of the base coating.

Imperial Assault: Rebel Saboteurs

Enjoying painting the line of miniatures for Imperial Assault. The miniatures are pretty good for a board game but not so good that I feel guilty when I only throw a quick paint job on them. Anyways, anyone who's played IA skirmish knows how good these little guys are.

Imperial Assault: C3PO and R2D2

Finished these two quite awhile ago but just getting around to posting them. Been doing a lot of speed painting lately as it's a therapeutic break from high quality, detail work.

Blood Rage: Raven Clan

I finally picked this game up this year after being turned on to it at Templecon 2016 last year. For one piece board game miniatures the quality is pretty great and the monsters are very good. Looking forward to putting some paint on to those. In the meantime I did a speed paint job on my favorite of the four clans in the base game.

High Heavens Board Game

I picked up the two player tactical board game, "High Heavens" at Templecon 2016. This is a great little board game that has a good amount of tactical depth while still being able to be played in about 30 minutes. The theme of a cosmic struggle between the greek and norse gods is great and while the art and design of the miniatures is very nice, the production of the miniatures certainly leaves something to be desired.

However, games with miniatures are so much more enjoyable if the minis are painted so I took a few hours and did a couple of quick test paint jobs for two of the greek gods, Hades and Hephaestus.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault 2

This has become one of my favorite board games. We've recently delved into the skirmish mode for this game after finishing the campaign and that's been very enjoyable as well. I may have spoiled myself for future board games incorporating miniatures though; I'm not sure I could ever go back to unpainted minis now. So here's rounding out the rest of the miniatures in the base game.

Stars Wars Imperial Assault: The Heroes

My wife and I have been enjoying Imperial Assault quite a bit lately. Having all the miniatures painted really adds to the enjoyment of the game and painting up Star Wars minis is a lot of fun.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault

It's been quite awhile since my last post. Had to put some other things first for awhile. Felt like a change of pace to start things back up so I grabbed a few handfuls of the miniatures that come with the Star Wars board game Imperial Assault.
This was a quick and dirty job just to get a decent tabletop finish. I only spent maybe 6-7 hours from start to finish on the 17 miniatures. This is about half of the miniature included with the game. I'll get to the other half at some point but will probably move on to something else in the mean time. They look good enough I guess and will more than suffice for play.

Painting Shadows of Brimstone

I picked up Shadows of Brimstone a couple months ago and since then it has become one of my wife and I's games of choice.
So, the miniature quality certainly leaves something to be desired but painted miniatures still look ten times better than unpainted ones and are more fun to play the game with. I didn't want to spend a ton of time on these so most of the work was done with an airbrush. I spent maybe 5 hours from start to finish on all these. Considering that they look fine enough. I still have to finish the other 2 hero characters, the hungry dead, and the Harbinger model, which is actually a pretty cool model.

Legend of Drizzt Board Game: Drizzt Do' Urden

Promised my awesome nephew Simon that I'd paint this miniature for him for his Dungeons and Dragons board game, "Legend of Drizzt". Enjoy, bud.

Zombicide: Survivor Josh

After painting the first batch of zombies for Zombicide, it's time to get all the survivors painted. I decided to spend a little more time on each of the survivors. Here's the first, Josh.

Zombicide!

Picked up the board game Zombicide not too long ago and painted up the first batch of zombies. There's 71 miniatures in the game so it's going to take me a little bit of time to get them all done. That being the case the painting will be kept to a minimum with base coats only, wash, matte varnish, and lastly blood and gore.
