Took a little break from painting my Convergence army to work on this Thagrosh conversion. Always loved the model but the wings that come with the model are a bit on the small side. I chose to use the wings from a Warhammer 40k Tyranid Hive Tyrant model. They are quite large, maybe even a bit too large but I think that's okay. It completely changes the look of the model.
It took me a fair bit of time to slowly remove material from the model's shoulders and the wings in order to get the fit and pose I was looking for. It came out pretty good and I'm looking forward to putting some paint on it.

Gaslands: First cars done
Haven't even played a game yet but it's been fun and a nice change of pace from painting Warmachine or Malifuax miniatures. Getting some vehicles done and ready for the table.
And a before shot
I tore the truck apart, stripped the paint, jacked up the height to use larger wheels, and added in grates where the windows were using drywall tape. Going forward I won't be using that again. It works okay but not great. After that I added some weaponry in the back using a piece of sprue, zip ties, some brass rod, and spear quiver from Hordes miniatures.
For paint I weathered it trying the salt and hairspray technique for the first time. It came out okay but I'll do it much better next time. Then I just did a black wash and added additional rust and dirt effects.
Chose this one for my next vehicle since it was almost ready straight out of the package.
I didn't get a shot of this one beforehand but I did very little to it; the paint was already pretty good so I left it as well. I did do a brown wash over it and added rust, bare metal, and dirt effects after. I also added the three spikes to the front and the front and rear windshield grating.

Gaslands
Been following the Mad Max inspired game Gaslands for the last several weeks; watching battle reports, joined the FB group, and recently picked up the rulebook as well as some hot wheels and matchbox cars to convert.
I also dug around in my bits box for things that I could use to get that Mad Max look happening. Found some things that should work but I'll have to get creative with what I've got and do a bit of scratch building probably.
Game looks like a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to playing my first games soon after I get my first cars done.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marines Dreadnought
After doing the conversion to make this model have a dual autocannon weapons loadout, I took a little bit of time to get it painted up. It was a little bit of time too. This was one of the quickest and easiest models to paint. Only took me about an hour. For a speed painted model it looks pretty good on the table which is all I'm going for here.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marines Dreadnought Autocannon Conversion
With the drop of 8th edition the dual twin autocannon loadout for dreadnoughts has been very popular and for good reason. I've had two dreadnoughts for quite some time that came in the Assault on Black Reach set from a few editions ago. Decided to do a little cutting and scratch building to achieve the appearance of twin autocannons.
First I used a hotwire cutter to remove the previous weapon loadout on both arms. Using some round sprue from Malifuax models and a bit of brass tube and we're done.
Here you can see a side by side comparison of the original and the converted model.
All in all a very simple conversion and doesn't take all that long.

DnD Rogue, Mareko Denhousen
This is my miniature for my character in a recent DnD campaign. Whenever possible I like to have a unique miniature for each of the different characters I play. The miniature is the "Hooded Assassin" by Dark Sword Miniatures. I did a slight modification cutting down the sword in the right hand and it's corresponding sheath to make it into a second dagger as this better fit my character wielding two daggers.

Legion: Typhon Conversion
I've always thought the model for Typhon was pretty cool looking but when put next to other heavy beasts in the faction he looked pretty small and puny. I've long planned to do a Typhon conversion utilizing the Legion heavy beast kit as the base. I've been playing a lot of Vayl 1 the past few months and like so many other Vayl lists, Typhon seems to fit very well into her game plan. I've recently been able to carve out enough time to do the conversion I had in mind and get the model painted. I did a repose on the left leg similar to what I've done on previous heavy beasts. I used the Ravagore arms, reposing the right arm to make the model a little more dynamic. Finally, three Carnivean heads finish the model off and give the character beast a much more ferocious and intimidating look in my opinion.

Wraith Witch Deneghra Conversion
I did up this conversion several months ago and never managed to post up pics for it. With the Deneghra 2 resculpt now on the horizon, this conversion isn't nearly as cool but I think it's still WAY better than the old sculpt.
Anyone who has seen the model for Wraith Witch Deneghra knows that it is god awful. There is a thread that pops up about it on the forums every few months. I knew that I could also not abide this terrible assault on my senses. I thought of a lot of different ideas and settled on using Lylyth 1 as the base for the conversion. After a LOT of hacking and dry fitting, followed by a bunch of putty work to try and clean up the joints, she's ready for primer.

Vampire Counts: Crypt Horrors
Started this counts as conversion almost a year ago now. Finally getting around to finishing them. I think the Legion Ogrun models are fantastic and make for great counts as Crypt Horrors. I plan on getting 5 more of these guys to fill out a unit.

Vampire Counts: Zombie Dragon/Terrorgheist Finished!
This model has taken me forever to get finished. I think I first purchased and began work on it back in August of 2014! I spent a lot of time initially working on the magnetizing and alterations to make both heads work and the wings be removable. I also spent quite a bit of time on the base construction. If you missed that post you can find it here. Painting for Warmachine/Hordes leagues are to blame as well for taking so long to finish this model. However, it is finally finished and I'm very pleased with how it has turned out.
Here's a couple shots showing were the wings and heads are magnetized. I also magnetized the Vampire Lord so I can also use him mounted on a horse as well.

Dwarves: Longbeards and Warriors Finished
Finally getting back to these after painting a fair bit of Legion models for the latest Journeyman League. In this post I did some putty work for more substantial beards on the command models and magnetized the arms on the musician and standard bearer so I could freely switch between regular warrior models and Longbeards. So, one unit of 26 Warriors all done. For most of my dwarf army and a lot of my Vampire Counts core I'll be speed painting the models with a simple base coat, wash, done with only a little highlighting on the front rank of models. This allows me to paint each model at somewhere around 30 minutes. It's not stellar painting but it looks half decent on the table top and combined with a freehand banner, I think they look alright.

Legion Stinger Conversion
I did this Stinger conversion last year and just never got a chance to come back to paint it. Finally getting to it and while it's not the cleanest conversion, I think it works and the broken through ice base was fun to do.

Dwarves: Longbeards and Warriors WIP
Been working on my Dwarves the last little bit. I was trying to think of a good way to be able to swap back and forth between using Longbeards or Warriors for my core. I decided to use a rank of 5 Warrior models to get some nice, long, putty beards to act as Longbeards. I'd use these 5 models in the front of the unit so it could be distinguished as a unit of LB rather than Warriors. I also plan to paint them slightly different than the others as well. I also magnetized the musicians and standard bearers arms so that the front rank would either be normal, shorter bearded Warriors or Longbeards with, um, longer beards. Should work out nicely I think.

Crypt Horrors Alternative Models/Conversion WIP
All us Vampire Counts players know how awesome Crypt Horrors are in game but they are seriously expensive models. A box of 3 models will run you $50 and that's getting them on ebay for much cheaper than retail. I just cannot justify that kind of expense for only a few models and I would want to field them in units of 6-10 so that's looking at $150. Um, no thanks. A lot of people use Ogre models and other solutions for their Crypt Horrors and like many others I had planned on going with Ogre models myself as you can get a box of 6 for about $30 - $35 on ebay. Then it occurred to me, Ogres!, Ogrun! as in Ogrun Warspears from the Hordes 2 player battle box. They are about the right size, are awesome models, and are dirt cheap.
Here's a WIP shot of the 5 CH I'm working on at the moment. I think they work nicely as Crypt Horrors with the spears removed and a few "accessories".
I actually already had a unit for my Legion of Everblight army that I got when I bought the 2 player battle box last year but they are painted and being used as intended.
Now, you could buy the warspears models for about $20- $25 by themselves but with a little bit of buying and reselling you can get them for next to nothing.
Hordes 2 Player Battle Box $70 on Ebay
Sell the mini rulebook for $15
the Circle and Legion battlegroups for $20 each
The Skinwalkers for $20
That's $75 and after ebay/paypal fees taken out the warspears I've kept cost about $5. I'll be getting another 2 player battle box at some point solely for another 5 of these models.

Terrorgheist/Zombie Dragon Ruined Base
I'll eventually finish this model. Getting closer. I finished the base for it this week and will hopefully finish painting the model soon.

Terrorgheist/Zombie Dragon WIP update
Been making progress on this model very slowly. It's a big model and I just haven't had the time lately to put much time into finishing it. Decided I needed a milestone in the process so I finished up a section of the model, the Zombie Dragon head/neck. I wanted to go with something other than black for the crumbling, rotting skin and I thought the blue would look different and stand out a bit. Once the entire model is finished I'll be adding some blood and gore to spice things up a bit but otherwise this is what the entire model will look like. For those that read the previous WIP post on this model, I did considerable amount of cutting and modifying on the ZD head/neck which consisted of removing the entire original saddle and 3 or 4 rows of spine. The saddle you see on this piece was added, sculpted, and made entirely of milliput. Hope to get some time to finish this model in a couple weeks after midterms are over.

Avatar of Menoth Conversion: Finished.....for now
This conversion has actually been painted and finished for quite some time now but I've never posted it because I had plans to go back and change a few minor things but after several months I just can't seem to get back to it with all the other models that need my attention. So, here it is. I think it looks pretty great and I'm very pleased with it. It's not perfect and I probably would do a thing or two different if I did it again but overall I think it turned out pretty good. Quite a few people have said that they think the mid section needs a bit more attention and beefed up a bit. I was planning on going back to pay a little more attention to that and I probably will at some point but in the mean time it's done enough and looks great on the table.
