Captaincon 2017 Painting Contest

For the first time I entered a formal painting contest at Captaincon 2017 this past weekend. I had a tough time actually deciding what to enter as several of my considerations I needed the models to be on the table for tournaments rather than sitting in a glass case all weekend. I decided to enter my Legion Blightbringer gargantuan. I wasn't using the model for any of my lists over the weekend and it is one of my better pieces.
My entry fell into the Monster/Vehicle category and I was pretty happy to find out that my work had received first place!

High Heavens Board Game

I picked up the two player tactical board game, "High Heavens" at Templecon 2016. This is a great little board game that has a good amount of tactical depth while still being able to be played in about 30 minutes. The theme of a cosmic struggle between the greek and norse gods is great and while the art and design of the miniatures is very nice, the production of the miniatures certainly leaves something to be desired.

However, games with miniatures are so much more enjoyable if the minis are painted so I took a few hours and did a couple of quick test paint jobs for two of the greek gods, Hades and Hephaestus.

Legion of Everblight: Nyss Warlord

Privateer Press' models sculpts have really started to catch up with some of the other great miniature producers like Games Workshop and Wyrd. The new Warlord model for Legion is no exception and the model's rules on the table are just as fun as the design for the model. I knew I had to have two of these guys out the gate. Been using them in my Fyanna list to great affect.

DnD Rogue, Mareko Denhousen

This is my miniature for my character in a recent DnD campaign. Whenever possible I like to have a unique miniature for each of the different characters I play. The miniature is the "Hooded Assassin" by Dark Sword Miniatures. I did a slight modification cutting down the sword in the right hand and it's corresponding sheath to make it into a second dagger as this better fit my character wielding two daggers.

Fyanna Torment of Everblight

So, I don't usually spring for the early pre release models but when I saw her rules drop I really wanted to play her, not to mention it's a great looking model. Been proxying the model and glad I got to put the actual model on the table for the first time just recently.

Malifaux: Children of December

Been trying to get some people interested in Malifaux in my area for a long time with little success. Decided to try a little harder this time by getting two crews fully painted and setting up full demos on game night at my local shop.

For my second crew box I chose Rasputina's box Children of December. I did rush this job a bit as I was trying to get it assembled and painted quickly but for the time spent on it, I'm satisfied.

Legion of Everblight: Hellmouth

Fantastic model, fantastic rules, easy and fun to paint. Not much else to say here.
